My family simply loves apples.  Their apple habit is one that I as mom am more than happy to support.   Buying apples at the store is not terribly economical for us.  I’ve needed to resort to other methods of procuring these scarlet gems.

When the boys were young we would spend the afternoon at a local orchard picking apples to our heart’s content.   But as the boys grew older and their appetites became that of men, apple picking at the orchard simply became too expensive.  ‘Twas fun while it lasted.

Gluten Free Brownie Bite Truffles

Chocolate.  It is both a blessing and a curse and my ultimate weakness.  My Achilles heal.  My kryptonite.  You can have your potato chips, your coffee, your burgers, fries, bagels, and cheese.  Chocolate is my thing.  I’ve become a bit of a chocolate snob.  I’m rather fond of Ghirardelli’s milk and dark chocolate chips for baking.  Godiva makes some down right decadent truffles.  But if I want to savor a delicious piece of chocolate, Scharffen Berger’s Milk Chocolate bar is my choice.  It is smooth and luscious and down right delicious.   I don’t make a habit of keeping chocolate in my house for the reasons listed above. However, I do love experimenting with chocolate when I bake.

Gluten Free Sugar Cookies

In our home, the Christmas season is full of family tradition.   One tradition that we all enjoy is cookie making.  About a week before Christmas, we spend time making some of our favorite treats.  Gingerbread men, linzer tart cookies, shortbread, and chocolate crinkle cookies are regulars.  But, I am always on the lookout to add to our repertoire.
