The Ultimate Guide to Gluten Free Snacks 2025

What are the best gluten free snacks this year?  Well, 2025 has not disappointed.  This year’s Ultimate Guide to Gluten Free Snacks is filled with some new favorites and some familiar names as well.  There is a snack for everyone.  I’ve found some of the best gluten free cookies, crackers, and chips around.  I am super excited to have included an amazingly delicious candy item this year as well as some hand crafted waffles (I know – waffles may not technically be a snack – but they could be!).  All this comes to you just in time for back to school.

The Ultimate Guide to Gluten Free Snacks 2025 The Gluten Free Gathering

In complete disclosure, some of the companies featured in this post gifted me some of their products for free.  Not all companies did.   I made the initial contact with companies to determine their interest. As I always say, my opinions are my own and have not been bought or paid for.  I will always provide an honest assessment of each product.  You will also see that there are some affiliate marketing links with Amazon in this post.  If you choose to click on a link and make a purchase, Amazon will toss me a few cents (literally).  I appreciate your support.  This blogging thing is not a money making endeavor for me.

Where Can I Find Gluten Free Snacks?

To prepare for product review posts like this, I do a lot of research and digging. My goal is to find new products and brands to feature each year. In order to find new gluten free snacks, here is where I look:

  1. Grocery stores: When I go shopping I always am on the lookout for new products.
  2. Big box stores: Sometimes stores like Costco, Sams, or BJs Warehouse have gluten free snacks.
  3. Amazon: I scour Amazon to see what is available.  This takes time.
  4. Vitacost: Vitacost sells a lot of gluten free snacks that interest me.  I find a lot there.
  5. Food Expos: I usually look on websites to see what companies attended shows like the Wicked Gluten Free Festival, the Fancy Food Show, and Natural Products Expo West.
  6. Nonfood Stores: Stores like Home Goods, TJ Maxx, and Marshalls always have food, and they almost always have unique gluten free snacks.
  7. Sponsored Posts:  Once I start searching for gluten free snacks on Instagram, the sponsored ads just keep sending products my way.

What Makes a Snack a Good Snack?

Good question.  My criteria for what makes a good gluten free snack may very well be different than yours, but here are some of the things that I keep in mind:

  1.  Is the item legitimately gluten free? I prefer items that are certified gluten free.  If I am unsure about certification, I look.  When in doubt I always recommend doing your research and checking on certification, dedicated facilities, and overall safety.
  2. Ingredients, ingredients, ingredients!  I do my best to stay clear of products that contain junk ingredients. I refuse to include anything with artificial colors and dyes. I try to avoid items with seed oils and natural flavors (although there are some products listed here that contain them).  I also try to stay clear of gums such as xanthan and guar gum. I am wary of rosemary extract.
  3. I prefer to support small businesses. Small businesses need our support.  If you like what they are making, support them.  Your financial investment keeps a company going, allows for their growth, and supports real people and families.  Big companies have huge marketing department and make billions of dollars a year.  Their products are visible and easily accessible.  They don’t need me, and I’d rather use the real estate on the blog to bring visibility to smaller brands. Smaller brands usually have personal stories.  They are passionate about what they are making, and they have you in mind.

Gluten Free Snacks

Date Smarter
Chocolate Covered Date Caramels
6 pack – $48.00

Every so often you come across a product that just knocks you off of your feet in the very best of ways.   That is exactly what happened when I tried Date Smarter.  I am putting these little gems first because they are amazing, and I think you’re going to love them.

First of all, I don’t like caramel.  I never have.  I don’t buy candy either.  That’s why I was so surprised at how much I loved these.  They are very chewy, just like caramel.  They are not as smooth as caramel.  But get this:  2 pieces contain 11 grams of fiber!  They’re gluten free, refined sugar free, dairy free, chemical free, and vegan. Everyone in my house agreed that they were amazing.  For me, these are perfect for an occasional treat, a stocking stuffer, part of a charcuterie board, great to take on a hike, or to pack for road trip fun! I will definitely be buying these in the future.

Red Plate Foods
Cookies & Muffins
6 pack/48 cookies – $54.00

Here’s another brand/product that just bowled me over.  Friends, you really don’t need to look any further for delicious gluten free and top 9 allergen free cookies.  They exist and they’re right here from Red Plate.

First, let’s talk food safety.  Red Plate’s facility is a dedicated bakery free from gluten/wheat, peanut, tree nut, dairy, egg, soy, sesame, mustard, celery, lupin, fish & shellfish.  They’ve taken the extra steps to minimize the use of corn as well.  Check out the details of their bakery.

Now, let’s talk taste.  Chewy cookies, that don’t fall apart, are not gritty, or tiny.  Full sized cookies, full of flavor, and quite frankly, kind of addictive.  They come in several varieties.  They were all amazing, but my favorite were the Double Chocolate Cookies.  Red Plate ships nationwide for a flat fee of $10.  My delivery went clear across the country from one coast to the other during one of the hottest spells of the summer.  Everything arrived in great condition!  Cookies come in 8 count boxes or you can buy a sampler pack of individually wrapped cookies – perfect for lunchboxes!

Mochi Snack Bites
Crispy Bites
6 pack – $21.99

These little crunchy gems from Mochi Snack Bites get my vote for the most addictive snack.  I still don’t know exactly how to describe them.  They’re a bit like a crouton but denser and more complex.  I loved the sea salt ones but there are other varieties like curry, sriracha, and teriyaki.  The sea salt variety contains three ingredients: rice, rice bran oil, and salt.  I have found a new fav snack!

Paktli
Chocolate Grain Bites
$5.99

I found these at  my local Home Goods, and I was intrigued so I picked them up. I really loved them. Delicious and look at this ingredient list: Organic 62% Dark Chocolate (Organic Cacao Beans, Organic Cane Sugar, Organic Cocoa Butter, Organic Sunflower Lecithin, Organic Vanilla bean), Organic Dried Wild Blueberries (Organic Apple Juice Concentrate, Organic Sunflower Oil), Organic Quinoa, Organic Millet, Organic Amaranth. Of course I wish certain ingredients were not processed with sunflower oil (it’s super inflammatory). Check out the unique flavors right from the Paktli site.

True Primal Grainless Granola
Granola
16 oz – $19.99

I was not sure what to expect out of a grain free, oat free granola.  The ingredient list is super simple: Almond, Honey, Coconut, Sunflower Seed, Coconut Oil, Pumpkin Seed.  That’s it.  You cannot go wrong with that.  At first bite it felt soft; I guess I was anticipating some kind of crunch, but there really wasn’t any.  It was like my brain was saying, “Hey, this is granola.  Where’s the crunch?”  But the more I nibbled on this, the more I loved it.  It is amazing.  My family had the same reaction.  Everyone loved it…a lot. Kudos to the creators at True Primal.

I know what everyone is going to say: “Wow, this is expensive.”  It is.  $20 per bag.  The bag is big; it’s a full pound.  In a world where everything is super small, this is not.  The bag lasted for a while (with some self control).  I would not hesitate to buy this again.  The ingredients are pure and that’s a lot more than many other brands can boast. You can choose to spend your money on granola that has three or four sweeteners or on one where the first ingredient is almonds.

Kate’s Real Food
Granola Bars
12 bars – $33.28

I thought that these granola bars from Kate’s Real Food were quite good.  They were a little on the sweet side for me, but that is just my opinion.  They are loaded with lots of real ingredients and have some crispy bits inside that I really liked.  One thing I really appreciated was the amount of dried cherries in my granola bars.  Sometimes the tendency is to skimp on ingredients like this because they are expensive, but that was not the case here.  The bars have very good flavor and come in a variety of different flavors to choose from. As I mentioned in other comments, I wish sunflower oil was not used to process the cherries, but it is hard to avoid with dried fruit.

Bear Fruit Rolls
Dried Fruit Leather
$3.99

These get my vote for the best treat to pop into the little’s’ lunches.  So adorable.  Each package contains two rolls and they are on these adorable animal cards that can be saved (I loved that!). These are made with real fruit – no concentrates.  Four ingredients:  apple, pear, raspberry, black carrot extract.  They’re really good.  You seriously do not have to be a kid to enjoy these.  If you are a Costco member, be on the lookout for a sizable box there.  Way to go Bear, for making a great treat!

Warrior Snack Mix
Grain Free Snack Bites
9 ounce bag – $9.99

Here is another grain free snack option from Bee Free: Warrior Snack Mix.  Great ingredients: Almonds, honey, almond meal, coconut, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, organic coconut oil, sweetened dried cranberries (sugar, cranberries, sunflower oil), vanilla extract, almond extract, sea salt. Yep, sunflower oil again.  Otherwise, it’s all good. I tried a few different varieties; they’re all really good.  You can see the goodness in each bite.  I also love supporting a company that is doing great things, and Bee Free is doing just that.  They took a family diagnosis of autism and created a brand that now supports and provides employment to adults with autism and other disabilities.

Eden’s Wellness Bars
Date Based Bars
12 pack – $42.00

Simple ingredients, fresh taste, and a great bar to grab when you’re on the go or if you just want a great snack.  Ingredients: Dates, figs, oats, walnuts, sesame, organic chia, tahini – Love it! These bars were really tasty, had a good amount of fiber and protein, and were delicious.  This is a small business that I would encourage you to support.  They’re putting out quality food, and they’re from my home state of New Jersey – so there! I am the biggest cheerleader for companies that use real food to make their products. Check out their story!

Artisan Tropic Grain Free Crackers
Grain Free Crackers
6 pack – $36.00

I had the opportunity to sample several different grain free and gluten free crackers for this review.  These crackers from Artisan Tropic were my favorite.  They had great flavor and crunch.  Clean ingredients (although I am skeptical of rosemary extract because it seems to be in everything). Artisan Tropics puts our great products.  We love their cassava and plantain chips too. There are three different flavors of crackers: Sea Salt, Tomato Herb, and Chili Lime.  My family liked them all.  Sea Salt was my favorite. This company is another example of a family that took a health diagnosis and made something beneficial out of it for all of us.

Wildwood Granola
Small Batch Granola
$3.00 – $20.00

After looking for new brands at the New York Summer Fancy Food Show, I stumbled upon Wildwood Granola.  They’re making small batch, handmade, thoughtfully crafted artisan granola.  This is my kind of granola.  It is subtly sweet, and as you can see in the picture you are not getting ‘granola boulders’ as I call some other granola.  You’re getting real oats, sliced nuts, dried fruit –  all of which you can clearly see and taste.  The granola is sweetened with local maple syrup and even contains sulfite free ingredients as well. There are several different varieties to choose from.  I loved this granola.  Check them out! I think that this would make a great gift!

Joyffles
Gluten Free Waffles
2 waffles – $6.50

I know – waffles are not a snack.  But why?  Why can’t they be? If muffins, cookies, and snack cakes are, then these waffles can be as well. I’m declaring it!  Friends, these gluten free oat-based waffles are so good.  They’re filled with great ingredients, no junk, and they’re delicious.  Each package has two soft waffles.  There are four varieties: apple cranberry, apple cinnamon, banana chocolate chip, and banana walnut. Even if you don’t use these as a snack, then they would make a great grab and go breakfast. They’re also dairy free, soy free, and low in sugar.  They’re delicious without even toasting them.  Check them out!

Rise
Protein Whey Bars
12 bars – $29.99

Rise Bars are my college sons’ protein bar of choice.  Minimal ingredients (almonds, whey, cinnamon, vanilla).  16g of protein. Great taste. There are so many protein bars on the market that are filled with so much junk; they’re certainly not good for you. This is where we land every time They make a variety of bars that are whey or pea protein based, in addition to protein powders as well.

CocoRolls
Wafer Snacks
$6.84

These CocoRolls in espresso flavor were very good.  I love the simple ingredient list: coconut milk, rice flour, coconut sugar, egg, coffee, and sea salt. The unique shape is fun.  These are light, crispy, and flavorful.  They come in original, espresso, and salted caramel. These reminded me of Pirouette cookies from Pepperidge Farm (without the filling).  My mom always had a tin of them in the house growing up. I love snacks like these that come in unique shapes because they allow for fun options for snacks, decorating cakes or cupcakes, or including them on charcuterie boards.

Ona Cookies
Grain Free, Paleo Cookies
4 pack – $39.99

These didn’t feel like cookies to me, but they were very delicious.  I liked them a lot especially the cinnamon raisin.  They’re little soft chewy cookie-like nuggets.  Super clean ingredients: Almond, Honey, Raisin, Coconut, Walnut, Coconut Oil, Water, Ceylon Cinnamon, Sea Salt. The fact that they chose to use Ceylon cinnamon speaks volumes.  Ceylon is often more expensive because of its superior quality and health benefits. They come in cinnamon raisin, maple pecan, and brownie style.  Each was quite good.

Hippie Snacks Cauliflower Crisps
Vegan & Gluten Free Crisps
$7.99

I was excited to try these crisps because I love cauliflower.  Who knew that cauliflower could be transformed into so many amazing things! I liked them, but they didn’t bowl me over.  I appreciated the clean ingredient list, good crunch, and subtle cauliflower flavor. There are a lot of different snacks available from Hippie Snacks.

Laiki Rice Crackers
Rice Crackers
$5.99

We deal with a lot of different food allergies in my home, but rice has always been a safe ingredient for us.  I stumbled upon these crackers from Laiki, a brand I had never heard of before.  They come in both a black rice and a red rice variety and only contain rice, sustainable palm oil, and salt. These crackers have some serious crunch to them, but they are not hard.  The flavor was simple but good.  I really liked these a lot, especially the red rice. They’re pretty sturdy and won’t break apart into smithereens. These crackers would be perfect for soup, too.  These are a do-it-againer for me. There are some other varieties to choose from as well.

Every Body Eat
Rice Crackers
6 bags – $34.99

I will tell you straight up that my son loved these.  He thought that they had great flavor, crunch, and a little chile kick to them! I really appreciate that they use extra virgin olive oil and nutritional yeast.  I wish the second ingredient wasn’t potato starch. But again, I really appreciate that their baking facility is top 14 and corn free.  They offer different cookies and crackers so check them out and read their story.

Let Me Snack
Popped Water Lily Seeds
$10.00

I’ve seen products containing popped water lily seeds, but I have always been concerned about trying a new ingredient that I’ve never had before (concerned about an allergic reaction). Well, my curiosity outweighed my concern, and I am glad that it did.  I really liked these a lot. We’ve already established that I like plain flavors, so the Himalayan Sunrise was my favorite.  These are a bit like popcorn with no kernel.  Simple, clean ingredients.  No seed oils and some unique flavors like mint masala.  I also spied a pumpkin spice crunch on their site (limited edition). This is a small business. Yes, the price is steep and the bag is small, but it’s a healthy snack that I can stand behind!

JoJo’s
Chocolate Covered Pretzels, Chocolate Bites, and Coconut Bites
4 bags – $29.99

Here’s another brand that I just loved so much!  Read the story of how JoJo’s came to be and you’ll be inspired. These snacks use dark chocolate to satisfy that sweet chocolate craving so many of us have.  My favorite were the  Pistachio, Almond, Cranberry Bites.  They are pretty much a nice thick chocolate bark topped with lots of delicious goodies likes nuts and dried fruit.  My husband loved the peanut butter filled bites – which are not pictured here because my husband ate them all. I also loved the chocolate covered pretzels.  JoJo’s uses Fit Joy pretzels as their base.

The Humble Seed
Seed Flour Crackers
6 boxes – $30.00

I stumbled upon these in my local Fresh Market and decided to give them a try.  They are grain free crackers with a seed flour base (Seed Flour Blend (Sunflower, Chia, Pumpkin, Flax, Hemp), Tapioca Starch, Cassava Flour, Sunflower Oil, Sea Salt, Sesame Seeds, Nutritional Yeast, Onion Powder, Rosemary Extract (for freshness). I love the use of seed flours as the base for these crackers.  They are perfectly crunchy and super delicious. I really love them.  However, I wish they would opt for a different oil other than sunflower oil and my rosemary extract ‘radar’ goes up with these too. I’m torn – delicious vs. inflammatory oil.  You decide.

The Humble Seed The Humble Seed

Joyfull Bakery
Parmesan Crisps

The base variety contains one ingredient: parmesan cheese.  Gotta love that.  Other added ingredients in other varieties include sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, millet, and flax seeds.  These were very good.  I think that these make a great snack and would look amazing on a charcuterie board as well. No guilt snacking at its best.  Check them out!

Pummies
Fruit Bites
6 packs – $32.00

I love the responsible use of ingredients used in the process of making these fruit bites. “At Harvest Maine, our goal is to promote healthy snacking and Pummies are no exception. When fruit gets juiced, the leftover goodness called “pomace” typically goes unused. But with a little love, we found this fiber-and-nutrient rich pomace creates the perfect first-of-its kind fruit bite!”  My first reaction when I tried these is that they tasted very sweet.  Not everyone in my family agreed with my assessment.  The first ingredient is apple juice concentrate which I think accounts for the sweetness.  While I liked these, there are other fruit bites that only use actual fruit and no concentrates.

Pummies Pummies

Nufs
Grain Free Crackers
$6.96

Here is another find from Fresh Market.  Nufs are made without seeds oils.  They are gluten free and dairy free as well.  They use olive oil (big plus).  I tasted their everything variety and thought it was really good.  The crackers have a great taste; I personally think they would be great if they were a bit thinner,  but they are still good. They have Hot Honey and Sea Salt varieties.

Crazy Monkey Baking
Granola Bites
$6.00

I really enjoyed everything that I tried from Crazy Monkey Baking. Their Granola Bites come in several flavors.  They are granola chunks (although you can see that breakage happened). Despite breakage, these still tasted quite good.  I really liked the minis.  They are perfect for a grab and go snack or a lunch box add in. By now, you know that I am a stickler for ingredients.  Unfortunately, many of these products contain natural flavors.  This is a big no for me.  While many people argue “they’re natural’, they’re simply not and you can taste it and smell it.  Blueberry natural flavor smells and tastes like it was made in a factory; it’s nothing like the flavor of a real blueberry. When I was trying the blueberry minis, my son walked into the room and said, “You’re eating something with blueberry flavoring aren’t you?”  He was right. It’s super hard to avoid natural flavors, but I do. The other call out here is that there are 2-3 different kinds of sweeteners: honey, molasses, cane sugar – it’s a lot.

Snow Days
Pizza Bites
$7.49

I apologize for the less than stellar picture here, but ignore that.  These are delicious!  I’ve been wanting to try these for quite some time.  I snagged a bag from the store and cooked them up the other day.  These have super clean ingredients, bake up perfectly, and are super delicious.  I loved them.  The only issue was that a lot of the filling kind of oozed out, but I salvaged everything off of the pan. I would not hesitate to make these for an after school snack or even as a lunch.  What you see in the picture is the contents of one package, so sharing is the key word here.  They’re pretty pricey, but they are quite good.  I recommend them! There are several other varieties that I want to try as well.

The Maine Pie Co.
Mini Fruit Pies
$7.99

While I was picking up a package of Snow Days Pizza Bites, this super cute package caught my eye, so I picked it up as well.  I’ve tried gluten free pie shells from The Main Pie Co before but never a pie.  Unfortunately, every pie was crushed so I couldn’t get a whole one.  I was worried that all of the insides were going to ooze out, but they didn’t.  This was really good. The crust baked up nicely and the filling was very well balanced (not too sweet). My husband and I shared it and were satisfied with half of a sweet treat each. They also have an apple mini pie.  Oh, and by the way, you can have full sized pies shipped to your door!  Check out their offerings!

Maine Pie Co Mini Blueberry Pie

Simple Mills
Grain Free Thins
3 – $11.99

I used to love Simple Mills, but when they got bought out and became part of the super huge food conglomerate system, I stayed clear. However, I picked these up to include in the review because they are delicious and their ingredients are clean. I recommend these, but as I always do, be sure to always check the ingredient list before you buy them.  When a brand gets bought out, ingredients can change, and it’s usually not for the better.

Naten
Baked Goods

The people from Naten were super kind and sent me a generous box of gluten free treats to try (all the way from France mind you!). They offer a great variety of mini muffins, brownies, tarts, cookies, and madeleines.  If I had to pick one item that I liked best it would be the marble madeleines. Each item comes individually wrapped which make these ideal for lunchboxes and individual snacks that must be sealed.  I appreciate that a lot! Many of their items contain natural flavors which I have already established are not for me. I also have concerns over the use of guar gum and sunflower oil. These treats are not widely available in the US.  I have seem them for sale in places like Home Goods, Marshalls, and TJ Maxx.

Ranger Bison
Bison Jerky
4 – $47.80

For you meat-lovers out there, this is something you are going to really like.  Loaded with protein, from pasture-raised free range bison, and filled with 30% bison liver and 70% bison. We all know how nutrient-rich liver is, well this is a unique way to add some into your diet. My husband loved these.  I mean really loved these.  They come in four flavors.  Each package is 2 oz. – yes, it is expensive, but I am firm believer that you get what you pay for.

Lundberg
Organic Regenerative Thin Rice Cakes
$8.01

I have always loved Lundberg’s Thin Stackers.  They are the perfect canvas for the topping of your choice: jam, butter, nut butter, guacamole – you name it. I really love that there is a  Regenerative Organic Certified variety.   These brown and red rice with quinoa stackers are my new favorite.  There are a lot of varieties to choose from.  These are a great addition to a charcuterie board or a fun part of lunch for the kids or adults.

Poptime
Popcorn (made with avocado oil)
4 – $21.99

I have literally never purchased bagged popcorn.  We always make our own popcorn in a big stockpot.  I decided to checkout the popcorn from Poptime.  I loved that they used avocado oil to make their popcorn.  No seed oils.  Non-GMO corn. The popcorn was light and fluffy.  I tried the sea salt variety.  It was quite salty, but still good. There are a bunch of different flavors available.

Boulder Canyon
Potato Chips (made with avocado oil)
$3.99

I almost always have a bag of potato chips in the house.  With three college aged guys, the reality is that they snack.  I always choose Boulder Canyon Canyon Cut Chips cooked in avocado oil. The best place to buy them is either at Costco or Sam’s Club.  An 18 oz. bag is under $6.00.

Siete
Chipotle BBQ

These chips are among our favorites.  Once you start adding flavors to chips, you can run into problems with the ingredients.  Not with these from Siete.  These chips have a little bit of a spicy kick to them. A word of caution.  Siete recently went through some ownership changes. I would read the ingredient lists before buying anything to make sure nothing has changed.

Kraut Krackers
Fermented Cabbage, Beet, and Flax Crackers
3 – $30.00

Every now and then there is a product that really kind of surprises and shocks you. Kraut Krackers definitely did that for me.  I found them via a sponsored post on Instagram.  I clicked and checked them out.  I was intrigued  by the ingredients: red cabbage, beets, flax seeds, and Himalayan sea salt.  All organic and all fermented. Fermented crackers. Interesting. I read on and was hooked when I saw the nutritional facts: dietary fiber, probiotics, omega 3s, manganese, protein, zinc, magnesium, and on and on it went.  These crackers actually had significant health benefits. I reached out to the company, and they sent along some.

I was super hesitant.  I do not like sauerkraut at all, and the mention of the word ‘kraut’ really made me squimish. When I opened the bag, I could definitely tell that these crackers were fermented.  When I tasted them, I could definitely tell they were fermented.  They were very tangy.  I literally needed to nibble them.  They were not bad; they were just so different than anything I had ever tasted.  My husband loved them and nearly ate the entire bag by himself.  He did keep commenting how ‘interesting’ they were. I think that something on top would help me out with the tang factor.  Maybe apple butter or apple slices  – something a tad sweet.  Maybe cream cheese? Not sure. I think if they were a bit thinner, that may be good.  Anyway, Kraut Krackers get the award for the most unique product this year!
