Here is my list of the best gluten free products as discovered during my recent trip to the Nourished Festival in Secaucus.
I had the privilege of attending the Nourished Festival this past weekend in Secaucus, New Jersey. What a wonderful time I had discovering new allergy friendly products and meeting up with some of my tried and true favorites.
If you have never attended an allergy friendly or gluten free convention, I would highly recommend it. It provides you with the chance to taste test products before buying, as well as talking directly to vendors about their products. And if that wasn’t enough, you are guaranteed to return home with a goodie bag filled with free samples.
My Tried and True Favorite Gluten Free Products
Aleia’s
Hands down Aleia’s is one of my all time favorite gluten free brands. I am always so glad to be able to pop over to their booth and see the same faces each year. They’re passionate about their products.
I have no idea why anyone would try any other breadcrumb aside from Aleia’s. Their breadcrumbs are amazing. The texture is spot on. The taste is delicious. Whether baked or fried, the end result is perfection.
I always use their Italian Seasoned Breadcrumbs.
Aleia’s also offers plain and Panko breadcrumbs, stuffing mixes, and a wide array of delicious cookies.
Aleia’s are some of the best folks in the business. Check them out!
Enjoy Life Foods
Safe and delicious. Those are the very first words that come to mind when I think of Enjoy Life Foods. Being a mom who has various food allergies myself, as well as three boys with a wide array of food issues, I love that I can trust that any product I select from Enjoy Life will be safe for any of us.
There is no contest. My favorite gluten free snack comes courtesy of Enjoy Life. I love, love, love their Lentil Chips. They are light, crunchy, and flavorful…and I can eat the whole bag if I am not careful. They come in a variety of flavors and bag sizes. From Protein Bites, Breakfast Ovals, Cookies, and Chocolate Chips, Enjoy Life has you covered.
Jovial
I simply purchase one gluten free pasta: Jovial. It cooks up perfectly every time and tastes like the real deal like no other gluten free pasta on the market. I also love that they offer a variety of pasta including lasagna noodles, elbows, fusilli, penne, tagliatelli, shells, and manicotti (to just name a few). This Italian loves that she can cook up some of my favorite traditional pasta dishes in my gluten free versions.
Jovial also has an amazing gluten free pastry flour, cookies, jarred beans, olive oil, and pasta sauces – each lovingly made with quality and purity in mind.
Gluten Free Products I Love
Partake
These are some seriously tasty little cookies, friends. Top 8 allergen free. Vegan. Gluten Free. Still delicious. Great crunch and texture. Though I typically bake my own cookies, if I were to grab a boxed cookie, these would be my first choice.
88 Acres
This company flat out wowed me at last year’s expo. They did it again this year. Not only do I think that their granola bars are the very best on the market (and that’s a huge market), but their seed butters will blow your mind.
I will admit: I am not a fan of seed butters. HOWEVER, every single seed butter that I have tried from 88 Acres is nothing short of amazing. Serious flavor. Super smooth consistency. Just crazy good.
This year I was bowled over by their Roasted Watermelon Seed Butter. Is anyone else making this? It’s delicious. I also tried their Pumpkin Seed Butter. Where has this been all of my life?
Are you getting the sense that I am head over heels with this company and their products (All of them)? I am, and you will be too.
Lundberg
If you were to open up my pantry on any given day, you would find one or more items from Lundberg filling the shelves. From rice to rice cakes, chips to snacks, there is something from Lundberg that will wow you.
My favorite rice is this one:
And as far as snacks go, my entire family loves Lundberg’s Thin Stackers.
Crofter’s
I have been purchasing Crofter’s Organic Fruit Spreads for years. They are delicious, and I love that many varieties have no added sugar. The flavor of each spread is authentic and just tastes so pure.
The Raspberry Fruit Spread is my favorite (and we’ve been known to simply eat is by the teaspoonful).
Brands & Products I Want to Try
Brazi Bites
Um, friends, these are amazing. I am not sure why in the world I had never tried them before the expo, but I think I ate lunch at the Brazi Bite booth. I tried all of the available varieties including their empanadas and Brazilian Cheese Bread (the churro variety is awesome). Find them in your grocer’s freezer section. Also available at Costco which may or may not be a good thing!
Swerve
Swerve sponsored the bloggers’ morning get together at the Nourished Festival, and each blogger received a full size bag of this sugar replacement to try. I am really looking forward to trying this out. I am all for reducing the sugar content of foods naturally. Swerve is safe for diabetics, and for the rest of us, it won’t cause any unpleasant and unhealthy blood sugar spikes. It has zero calories, is completely natural, and measures just like sugar.
I’ll let you know what I think once I’ve had the chance to work with it. But, I’m intrigued and excited to use it in some of my recipes.
Otto’s Natural Cassava Flour
For a long time I used Almond Flour to bake with, but when my son developed a nut allergy, that came to an end. While I love the gluten free flour blends that I use in the majority of my baking, I’ve wanted to try out other options, and cassava flour has been at the top of my list.
I was so happy to see Otto’s Naturals at the expo and even more excited that they had product for sale (at a great price, too). I picked up two bags and can’t wait to try them out.
Not familiar with Cassava flour? Check out these facts:
- MADE WITH 100% YUCA: Otto’s Naturals Cassava Flour is a single-ingredient, plant-based baking flour made from Cassava, also known as Yuca. It’s grain-free, gluten-free, nut-free and perfect for paleo or vegan lifestyles, but has the taste and texture of wheat flour. With Otto’s, you can make any recipe allergen-free and bake with peace of mind!
- FREE OF TOP 8 ALLERGENS: Because Otto’s Naturals is made from Cassava, it’s naturally free of the most common allergens: grain, gluten, dairy, eggs, soy and tree nuts. Further, Otto’s doesn’t share equipment with these common allergens, so we can promise you and your family that we are guaranteed free of the top 8 allergens. We’re also Gluten-Free Certified by the Gluten Intolerance Group.
- FROM CASSAVA TO FLOUR: Cassava has been a staple food around the world for centuries. What sets us apart from tapioca is the way we dry and grind this sustainable root vegetable using the whole root, not just the extracted starch. The result is a light, single-ingredient flour that’s grain-free, gluten-free & nut-free.
- 1:1 WHEAT FLOUR SUBSTITUTE: Re-create delicious, grain-free versions of all your favorite family recipes with our non-GMO, certified paleo cassava flour. It’s mild flavor and light texture make it an easy 1:1 substitute by weight for all-purpose wheat flour.
I guarantee that you will be seeing some recipes up on the blog that feature Cassava.
